Michail's story
Michail is a plant research scientist who was born in Switzerland, raised in Greece, educated in the UK, and trained in the USA. He loves teaching because he gets to be very creative in influencing young people and watching them grow into inquisitive minds.
Michail Iakovidis will join Copperfield’s Science department this Autumn term. He has 10 years of teaching experience and has mentored, trained, and supervised many students since 2006. Michail has a PhD in Molecular Plant Pathology and an MSc in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology from the University of East Anglia. Michail worked in world-leading research teams in the USA and the UK, while he speaks fluent Greek and English, along with some German and Italian.
Apart from spending time with his wife and son, Michail is a board game master and creator, especially role-playing D&D-style and strategy. He loves basketball, cooking, Sci-fi, and philosophical discussions. He loves to organize house get-togethers with friends and colleagues. His favourite quotes are: "Imagination is more important than knowledge. While knowledge is limited, imagination encircles the world.", and "Every child starts out as a natural born scientist".
