Sara Vacas

I grew up in San Sebastián, Spain, where I obtained my IB Diploma and a BA in Philosophy. I have worked as an SEN Teacher and SpLD Tutor for the past ten years in the UK, progressing in my career toward a coordinating role within my field in Germany and Switzerland, before joining Copperfield.

Sara's story
Sara was born in San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain, where she obtained her IB diploma and a Bachelor's in Philosophy, with Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Sciences and Logic as her specialized areas. Sara has worked as an SEN Teacher and SpLD Tutor for the past ten years in Dorset and London and has completed different specalized training after completing her Postgraduate Master’s Degree in Teacher Training and obtaining her UK QTS teaching license.
Sara will join Copperfield as Head of Learning Support in August. She has worked in specialist and mainstream international schools in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Switzerland, and has taught the British curriculum and the IB programme. Sara is familiar with different educational needs policies and practice and is a member of different specialized organisations in the UK, France and Switzerland within the special educational needs and neurocognition field.
Sara has grown up in an international learning environment and is keen to learn languages, she is fluent in Spanish, French, English and Basque. Sara also loves literature, art, gastronomy, and hiking. Sara promotes a nurturing learning environment, a flexible and growth mindset and embraces a neurodiverse teaching and learning approach, focusing on students’ needs and challenges and also on their strengths and talents. Sara is inspired by psychologysts such as Vygosky, Feuerstein and Piaget. Her favourite quotes are: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn", and ”What a child can do in cooperation today, he can do alone tomorrow”.
